Band Bio:

Jerry’s Kids, who borrowed their name from the fund-raising organization founded by comedian Jerry Lewis for kids with cerebral palsy, was one of the earliest Boston hardcore punk bands and hailed from nearby Braintree along with Gang Green. Like their band neighbor, their earliest recordings too were included on the This is Boston, Not L.A. compilation. The original lineup included Bryan Jones (Rick’s brother) on vocals, with his pipes appearing on the This is Boston, Not L.A. compilation and in “My Machine Gun” on Unsafe at Any Speed, but he left the band due to pressure from his ‘rents. Of their role on the Modern Method EP, Rick Jones said in an ‘82 interview:

“When Modern Method offered us the opportunity to record, we jumped at it. We may have been too new a band at the time. When we did ‘Uncontrollable,’ Bryan made up the words as he went along. Some of the songs were immature. I feel our new stuff is better and our viewponts have become more precise and stronger since then.”

Chris Doherty of Gang Green joined the band in ‘83, as the band worked on what is viewed as their masterpiece Is This My World? on XClaim. As word about the band spread from their tracks on the Modern Method compilations, Is This My World? sold 3,000 copies without promotion.

The band broke up in ‘85 and reformed in ‘87, releasing their speed metal album Kill Kill Kill also on XClaim, and came together again in 2004.
